Where is Newcastle, California?  Newcastle is located between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, in the Sierra Nevada Foothills.  Originally a gold rush mining town, the climate and proximity to the railroad were natural aids in transitioning Newcastle into the "Fruit Capital of the World" between the turn of the century and the 1960's.  Newcastle still holds a high profile in agricultural, Mandarin Oranges being our claim to fame for the last decade.  Our business association sponsors the "Mountain Mandarin Festival" each year.  

A quick two-mile drive to Auburn will take you to major grocery and some large retail shopping; other essentials such as gas, groceries, post office,etc., are in town.  Community college is located in Rocklin (about ten minutes away), as well as one of the biggest malls in the west,  and Sacramento takes about 35 minutes to get downtown or to Arco Arena.   Travel to "the City" (San Francisco) runs about 2 hours if no major traffic.
